FAIRBANKS—The Alaska Goldpanners were held to two hits but tied the Everett Merchants twice before falling 4-3 Wednesday night in the second game of the nonleague baseball series at Growden Memorial Park.
The Goldpanners tied the score at 3 in bottom of the eighth, as Chris Lee banged a double to score Chad Carroll, who was walked by Jo Jo Howie, who earned the win after pitching eight nnings for the Merchants of Everett, Wash.
